WITA Joins Amicus Brief on
Universal Service

On January 9th the NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association, Competitive Carriers Association (CCA), and USTelecom–The Broadband Association filed a brief with the Supreme Court supporting the mechanism for contributions to the federal Universal Service Fund (USF).

The associations, several other parties and the federal government petitioned the Supreme Court to review a decision of the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit declaring the contribution mechanism unconstitutional. 

In support of that brief, thirty state telecommunications associations from Maine to Washington filed an amicus brief at the US Supreme Court.  You can read the amicus brief here:
